Tips and tricks to kick start your fundraising


Dads and father figures play a vital role in the lives of the young people close to them, helping build healthy relationships.

Today, 1 in 4 young people deal with mental illness like depression, anxiety, and lack these key relationships in their lives. The YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run is raising funds for YMCA programs that build resilience and equip vulnerable young people with social and emotional skills to safeguard against the onset of mental illness.

Fundraising for any cause can be daunting, but we’re here to help. Here are a few ways you can start your fundraising with a bang!

  • Get social – spreading the news on social media is the best way to let everyone know you’re fundraising. Tell them about why youth mental health is so important to you, and link off to your own fundraising page. You never know who will donate.
  • Hold people to their word – sooooo many people say they’re going to donate, but then life happens and they forget. Don’t be afraid to shoot them a text reminding them to make a contribution.
  • Recognise – when people start to donate, be sure to thank them. Tag them on social media and let people know how awesome they are.
  • DIY – you can always make a small contribution to yourself to get started. Easy!
