Where the funds went from last year’s event
Last year, our fundraisers played a big role in helping build resilience in disadvantaged young people in Victoria and we can’t thank them enough.
The important $9,256 raised from the 2017 YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run event went towards some amazing and impactful YMCA youth programs. Our YMCA youth services team spread the money as far as they could .
Here’s what they spent it on:
- Four young people were fully subsidised to attend YMCA Camping Adventures – a five day fun filled camping adventure for all young people including those with a disability. Two of these young people had additional needs and as a result needed more funds to ensure they had adequate support during their week of camp.
- Seven young people were partially subsidised to attend YMCA Connect Camp – a five day camp designed for young people who are considered vulnerable or living in residential care or supported accommodation.
- 200 young people were supported through four leadership and resilience modules as part of YMCA Evolve – a leadership and self-development program specifically designed to be run in schools for students in Year 6, Year 8 and Year 10.
That’s 211 young people in your community that were supported to build resilience, gain a sense of identity and develop self-confidence in a safe environment through fundraising as part of the YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run.
Our target this year is $13,500 and we’re looking for more fantastic people to fundraise and ensure even more young people are helped in 2018.
